A team of researchers has found that vitamin D3 may help treat asthma patients who do not respond to standard drugs. The research, which was published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation found that people who failed to respond to steroids suffer repeated asthma attacks. People with asthma who were unresponsive to steroids were given daily vitamin D3 supplements for seven days.
Asthma sufferers are usually treated with inhaled steroids which can cause serious side effects. Senior researcher, Tak Lee, said: ÃThis research has major implications for how to treat patients with severe asthma.Ã
